In the book The Concept of the Continental Shelf in Its Historical Evolution: With Special Emphasis on Entitlement, the authors examine the concept of the continental shelf — one of the most controversial and dynamic areas of international law — in light of its historical development, state practices and judicial decisions. It traces the legal transformation between the continental shelf and the exclusive economic zone from the 1945 Truman Proclamation through to the 1982 Montego Bay Convention, via the Geneva Convention and the North Sea Continental Shelf Cases.
